This Is My Page...
Okay. My turn to 'fess up and explain what is really going on here. You know, get down to the nub of the whole concept and reason for this goofy little website of mine. Well, first off I will tell you I have no hidden agenda (nor am I going to try to sell you something). I am in my 50's and I don't feel my age. I feel much younger, which I'm sure is a plus. As I approached my 50th birthday I launched a little website outlining my journey (with help from my wonderful wife, Brenda) called 'Love Chunk' which you can click on to see where we were going. Growing up I was always rail thin, painfully skinny. I discovered track and field in high school and chose running (or jogging in a lot of cases) as a great hobby. While I fell off the fitness wagon frequently, I always came back to running. At one point in my life I was lifting free weights in a gym and training daily for weekend road races held throughout the region I lived in British Columbia. I think I ran close to a dozen races that summer with most of them in the 8 to 15-kilometre range.
In my adult years I've always found myself about 25 pounds heavier than I want to be, and as of the moment I am typing this I can tell you I am only 10-pounds shy of my old running weight. I don't see it as a battle. I see it as a lifestyle change and thanks to changes in eating habits in our home, it's getting easier to see results than it did years ago running like a maniac but still drinking beer and eating multiple cheeseburgers.
So since my wife, Brenda started to slowly (more like cold turkey) shift her eating habits into the orbit of 'wheat-free' I have made a number of huge discoveries and observations. They include, but are not limited to the fact that I'm forever whining about not having enough bread or buns in the house; my cravings have increased to an intensity that is slowly pushing me into early insanity and Brenda is losing weight (which could be a nasty side effect). Seriously, I haven't gone completely 'wheat-free' but I am getting a lot more aware of what I eat and have found myself finding 'wheat-free' substitutes that don't taste like stale socks. For me, this is a major step as I can't eat something that doesn't have some sort of flavour.
Along with the shift in eating habits I have started to plank. Both the exercise and the fad. I've never been one to keep up with the Joneses so now seems about the right time to jump into a fad that has spun around a few times already. The plank exercise I will do once a day (always in the evening) and I am now up to 4:00 with just one plank a day. The plank fad sees me in a lot of strange locations (most picked out by Brenda) and I usually post three different ones per week on social media sites. Call me crazy. It's okay.
